The Blue Marlin Hotel goes PINK
In support of PINKtober and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, THE BLUE MARLIN HOTEL hosted the highly sought after “Dance of The Butterfly” event on Saturday 22nd October 2016, in conjunction with The Forever Changed Global Awareness Campaign.
Blue Marlin’s Entertainment/Event Manager, Lana Lauderdale explained that these events have already been hosted by ambassadors countrywide, (with the premiere launch in Hollywood in March 2016 and in Israel next month). Lauderdale went on to say that these are the only official events, which are licensed to screen The Forever Changed Documentary globally, and is produced and directed by The African Motion Picture Company. Lana says “After yesterday’s highly successful exclusive screening, we are now promoting the Blue Marlin Hotel’s public “Dance of The Butterfly” event on Sunday 27thNovember 2016 which includes a cheese and wine party and tickets are now on sale at R150 per person. Not only will audiences be empowering themselves, they will also be entertained by well-known performers, including a flamboyant fashion show AND will be donating proceeds to Khanya Hospice and 21 year old Durban based warrior Tashnika Rambali, who is undergoing a bone marrow transplant.
Key-Note speaker, breast cancer warrior Addi Lang, (founder of the campaign, and executive producer of the documentary), dressed in a vibrant butterfly print outfit designed by Durban’s RococoKage, delivered a poignant speech outlining why she started the campaign, (being that although she was diagnosed in a late stage, she is a determined cancer warrior that has chosen to live her life deliberately by promoting a global warning) which was to inspire others to understand their health rights and take charge of the decisions and choices they make. Addi laid tribute to fallen warrior 36 year old, (lead in TV Series “Black Sails Season 1)”, well known South African actor Jannes Eiselen who is the second warrior in the Forever Changed documentary, so determined and so positive, who has just gained his angel wings..(with 41 year old Sebastian Bonospeaking about the physiological battle in his cancer journey, being the first of those interviewed, to gain his angel wings in December 2015).
Addi wears her version of a pink ribbon proudly as she has made a valued contribution to society which opens a much needed forum for discussion for health enthusiasts, care givers and warriors. This roadmap is something that she believes had she been introduced to, would have changed the course of her life and the choices that she made at the time of her diagnosis. Celebrities included Kevin Ellis, (aka The Style Guru), with a combination of local and international VIPs and members of the press. Also in attendance was Mr Narend Singh, Member of Parliament and Member of the Judicial Services Commission, who commented “The documentary is an eye-opener which reminds us of things we should already know. There is a powerful message that needs to be shared with all, not only warriors, but with doctors and oncologists. Addi is a true warrior for the cause.”
Lifestyle partners include The Blue Marlin Hotel, Mediacom South Africa and Jetline Sandown, who have recently joined hands with Addi to ensure that the message of the campaign is extended to the next level.
