Minister Of Education Angie Motshekga Will Announce The Overall Pass Rate For The 2014 Matric Exams
Basic Minister of Education, Angie Motshekga will be announcing the overall pass rate for the class of 2014 later on today (5 January 2015). The sadden truth is that the head of the council of standards body Umalusi , Professor John Volmink stated that in the first time in five years matric results are set to drop by 3% to 5%.
The class of 2014 waits anxiously to see their faith when they receive their results tomorrow. Government has urged parents to keep calm and supportive if their child failed. It was also stated that the learners are urged to go to school tomorrow morning to receive their results as teachers will be at school in the morning to give results and help with any queries.
Mr Volmink predicted that there will be a drop in Mathematics, Physical Science, Home Languages including English but Mathematical Literacy taking the biggest dip with a drop up to 48%.
Umalusi stated that Seven of the Nine Provinces were found guilty of cheating in the 2014 Matric exams and that 58 out of 117 Exam Centers were found guilty in Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Eastern Cape. All Schools found guilty of cheating are under investigation and therefore their results will not be released. Learners can identify their results in the papers only by their examination numbers as names will not be printed.
